An adaptation visit is a meeting aimed at getting your child accustomed to the surgery, the doctor and the dental equipment. Thanks to proper preparation and experience of our specialists, we teach our Little Patients that the dentist does not have to be associated with fear, but can be an interesting and safe place. This approach builds trust, reduces stress and makes subsequent visits go more smoothly.
It is best to make an appointment before there is pain. Talk to your child about dental health and the role of the dentist, avoiding scary words ("injection", "drilling"). A good way to do this is to play dentist or watch cartoons on the subject.
The child is first allowed to play in the play area and then goes into the surgery with the parent. The doctor demonstrates the equipment in a playful manner, gives it funny names ("spaceship chair", "elephant snail") and the Little Patient can touch and try everything out.
Once the child is accustomed to the environment, the doctor looks into the child's mouth, counts the teeth and discusses the state of the oral cavity with the parents. If necessary, he or she gives hygiene instructions or performs a minor, painless procedure.
At the end, the child chooses a gift from the 'prize cupboard'. If necessary, we arrange further adaptation visits to gradually build a positive experience and willingness to cooperate.
